We caught up with Jess from M*****ER, an enamel pin company based in the UK, to ask her a few questions about her business. Here’s what she had to say:
What made you want to start your own enamel pin business?
I’ve always loved enamel pins and I wanted to create my own designs that I couldn’t find anywhere else. I also loved the idea of being able to work for myself and have creative control over everything.
How did you get started?
I started by teaching myself how to use Illustrator and then I started designing my first pins. I ordered a small batch of pins from a manufacturer to see if they would sell and they did! So I kept going and here I am today.
What’s your favourite thing about running your own business?
My favourite thing is that I can be creative every day and make things that I love. It’s also great to work for myself and have the freedom to make my own decisions.
What has been the biggest challenge so far?
The biggest challenge has definitely been marketing my products and getting them in front of potential customers. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s so worth it when you see people wearing your pins!
What are your plans for the future?
I’m planning on expanding my product range to include more than just enamel pins. I’m also working on some collaboration projects with other small businesses, which is really exciting.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own business?
My advice would be just to go for it! If you’re passionate about something then there’s no reason why you can’t turn it into a successful business. Just be prepared to work hard and don’t give up!
Conclusion
There you have it! Some words of wisdom from a fellow small business owner. If you’re thinking of starting your own enamel pin business, or any small business for that matter, Jess’ story is proof that it can be done. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and make your dreams a reality!
